This session will provide a short introduction to data protection and prospect research, focusing on the most important aspects for schools to consider as we move towards GDPR.

We will look at:

  • The lawful basis for processing data for prospect research
  • Legitimate Interest for research
  • Privacy Impact Assessments and Legitimate Interest balancing tests
  • Fair processing information – privacy notices
  • Research processes, sources, third parties etc

Kerry Rock, Prospecting for Gold

Kerry Rock provides fundraising and market research, benchmarking and bid writing services to a diverse range of clients. Kerry has over twenty five years’ experience in research and management across the not for profit, public and private sectors. Kerry believes research is much more than data collection. The real value is in providing clients with value added analysis and interpretation that enables them to build stronger organisations. She leads on our data protection advice and consultancy. Kerry holds degrees in Arts and Commerce from the University of Melbourne. She a member of the Institute of Fundraising and is on the Culture Sector Network research committee.  She is also a member of the Market Research Society.
