Upcoming masterclasses

Storytelling masterclass

10:00 - 12:00, Tuesday 1 October 2024 - online

Following her popular storytelling workshop at the IDPE 2024 Annual Conference, Kurstin Finch Gnehm returns, delving deeper into the neuroscience behind our natural attraction to narratives and exploring how to harness the power of evidence-driven storytelling in fundraising.

Discover how stories have helped us to survive and advance as a species, the theories behind what continues to make stories so powerful in daily life, and the strategies that you can use at a senior level to elevate your stories to influence the behaviour of donors and prospects.

Through practical exercises, you will develop proficiency in using the 'narrative arc,' a model designed to help produce the most compelling narratives. By the end of the session, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to enhance your school's campaigns with stories that boost engagement and drive donations, ultimately elevating your fundraising efforts.

Key learning areas will include:

  • The science behind brain chemistry and storytelling
  • The power of the 'narrative arc'
  • Practical experience building stories to drive fundraising

Speaker: Kurstin Finch Gnehm, Group Head of Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships and Trusts at Dog's Trust

Changing the culture masterclass

10:00 - 12:00, Tuesday 19 November - online

Explore how you can influence a stronger culture of giving and ensure that development is embedded in your school, working in partnership with senior (non-development) colleagues and getting the Governors on board.

More details to follow.

Speaker: Fiona Kirk, Consulting Partner at Marts & Lundy Inc.
