Legacy giving masterclass

10:00 - 11:30, Thursday 9 May 2024 - online

FULLY BOOKED

Legacy income has been rocketing for 15 years and is likely to continue growing for the foreseeable future. Developing and implementing a robust legacy strategy is crucial to gaining engagement with alumni and the wider school community, giving prospects time to act.

In this masterclass, legacy specialist Richard Radcliffe will draw on over forty years in fundraising to support you with setting clear objectives to ensure your strategy results in a great legacy giving culture.

The session is suitable for all school development offices, regardless of the level of investment in legacy fundraising. Delegates will leave with practical action points which, in these busy times, will be easy to fulfil.

Speaker: Richard Radcliffe, Richard Radcliffe Consulting

You don't have to miss out on hearing Richard speak as he will be presenting at the IDPE 2024 Annual Conference.

Moves management masterclass

10:00 - 12:00, Tuesday 18 June 2024 - online

Your prospects require your time and attention. Implementing a moves management system can help you prioritise your activities for the right prospects and identify next steps to take towards asking for a donation.

Your governors and heads look forward to the results of your fundraising activities, but they may lack an understanding of what it is you actually do to get a donation. Implementing a moves management system allows you to report where your prospects are, how much effort is required until a donation is made and potentially even how much you might raise.

In this masterclass, schools development and data expert Christian Propper will help delegates to develop a moves management system together, to help you record, report and prioritise your fundraising activities, to achieve greater fundraising success.

At the end of the session, you will come away with:

Meaningful terminology and data management tricks to describe moves management that is easily understood by all.
Reports that help manage expectations and predict your fundraising success.
Ideas on activities to take to help you move prospects along towards making a gift.

Speaker: Christian Propper, Associate Director (Club and Campaign) Development Office, Marlborough College

Managing expectations masterclass - Great expectations and persuasion

Date and venue tbc

Despite the masterclass title, this is not a book club! It is designed as an interactive gathering of development professionals, committed to doing their best work when in an environment where the development journey is often misunderstood by senior colleagues and volunteers. Fiona Kirk will share some of the 'great expectation gaps' she has faced in her practitioner career, and through discussion together, in a safe and confidential space, we can debate and learn from each other some of the tactics and strategies that have worked and have not worked amongst attendees.

Key learning areas will include:

  • The importance of understanding and addressing short-term thinking internally, whilst still delivering the maximum possible
  • The internal narrative that works when building understanding of the fundraising process
  • How to successfully draw in others within your school to partner with you in your work.
  • The value of calmness, data, and peer benchmarking in presenting messages that leadership don't want to hear
  • The importance of managing your own personal expectations of yourself – whilst still keeping your foot on the pedal

Speaker: Fiona Kirk, Consulting Partner at Marts & Lundy Inc.
